27th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships
Second bronze medal for Hong Kong, China

23rd September, Bangkok Jovi Ma, Keith Mark, Ivan Tse, Tony Wong and Su Siu Hong added a second bronze medal at the 27th MWA Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships 2024 after finishing third in the Men's Team of Five event behind Singapore winning their first gold and Malaysia taking home the silver.

With 211 pins cushion from yesterday's first block, Singapore's Jaris Goh (alternating with Mike Ong), Joel Tan, Nu'Man Syahmi, Darren Ong and Jomond Chia got off the second block with a superb 1030 but saw their lead cut to 157 pins after Malaysia started better with stunning 1146.

Syafiq Ridhwan, Izz Naqiuddin Putera, Tun Hakim, Hafiz Zainuddin and Rafiq Ismail added another sizzling 1104 to further cut Singapore's lead to 149 pins. Hong Kong, China had the best start with 1153 in the fourth but managed only 956 to move up to third above China.

Singapore ended the block with 999 for a total of 6449 to seal their gold medal. Malaysia finished stronger with 1122 but fell short by just 26 pins to settle for the silver medal with 6423.

Jovi Ma, Keith Mark, Ivan Tse, Tony Wong and Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong, China ended with 1047 to clinch the bronze medal with 6237. China missed the podium after finishing fourth with 6100, 133 pins behind Hong Kong. Despite missing on the team, Rafiq Ismail of Malaysia captured his third gold medal after topping the Men's All Events with 5354 (24 games).

His team-mate, Hafiz Zainuddin added a silver medal by taking up second position with 5303. Singles silver medalist, Jarrod Langford and Korea's Park Dong Hyuk were the co-winners of the bronze medal. Tony Wong was the sole qualifier for the Masters finals by taking up ninth in the standings with 5104.

Tse (25th-4923), Wu (27th-4917), Ma (53rd-4707), Mark (56th-4690) and James Lui (89th-4484) all failed to make the cut. The top 16 men and top 16 women in the All Events standings qualified for the Round-Robin Masters Finals to be contested over two blocks on September 24 and 25. The top 3 men and top 3 women at the end of the two blocks will proceed to the Stepladder Shootout finals to determine the Masters medalists.
