1st May, Cairo: 2013 ABF Tour UAE champion, HRH Mohamed A Saud of Saudi Arabia captured his second tour title after denying his challenger and last year's Egypt leg champion, Ayman Hashem of Egypt with a 214-182 victory in the Men's final of the ABF Tour Egypt 2014.
Mohamed edged Sinai Open second runner-up, Jassim Darwish of Kuwait, 235-220 in the second semi-final match while Ayman ousted Mahmoud Mazloum in the first all-lefty Egyptian semi-final match, 258-226 to face the Saudi.
Both title contenders struggled in the early stages of the match with Ayman failing to spare in the second frame while Mohamed managed a strike after three frames. But the Saudi missed two consecutive pin 10s in the fifth and sixth frames to draw level with the Egyptian.
Ayman picked up two spares and a strike before delivering another seemingly perfect pocket shot only to see pin 7 and 10 standing firmly. Ayman then struck twice to end with 182.
Mohamed bounced back to bring home six consecutive strikes to end with 215 and took victory for his second tour title and denying Ayman his second home tour victory.
"The thumb was quite loose and I just could grab whole of the ball properly and that was why I missed two simple pin 10 spares," said the 38-year-old Saudi prince. "Luckily I managed to strike home for the victory."
The champion beat Hossam Eobhy of Egypt, 215-206 in the opening round and was lucky to take another victory in Round 2 beating Rakan Al Ameeri of Kuwait with identical 215-206 score to make the semi-final.
Ayman received a bye in the first round when his opponent did not show up and narrowly defeated newly-crowned Sinai Open champion, Mohamed Janahi of Bahrain, 204-199 in the second round to advance to the semi.
Mr Farouk Haridi, Asian Bowling Federation Exco member and Major General Ahmen, President of Egyptian Bowling Federation presented the trophy to the champion.
