Hong Kong celebrates 60th anniversary

30th June, Hong Kong, China: Hong Kong China Tenpin Bowling Congress (HKCTBC) celebrated its 60th anniversary during the official opening ceremony of the 48th Hong Kong International Open Bowling Championships at Top Bowl, Kai Tak Sports Park, Kowloon.

Officiating the opening were the Hon. Timothy T.T. Fok, GBM, GBS, JP, President, Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Ms Manda Chan Wing Man, JP, Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Department, Mr George Tsoi Kin Pan, Commissioner for Sports, Culture, and Tourism Bureau, Ms Vivien Lau, SBS, JP, Chairman of HKCTBC and Hon. Life President of ABF and Mr Jeff Kong, President of HKCTBC.

The ceremony kicked off with a welcoming speech by Mr Jeff Kong followed by the Hon. Timothy Fok. Ms Manda Chan also delivered her speech on behalf of Leisure & Cultural Services Department. Mr George Tsoi gave the final speech of the opening before witnessing the traditional eye-dotting and ribbon tieing of the lions.

This was followed by the lion dance and wishing all participants the best of luck in their endeavour. HKTBC also took the opportunity to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a large cake. All guests of honor and distinguished guests joined in the celebration to mark the occasion.

Following the opening ceremony, teams contested the Inter-Center (President's Cup), International Youth, Inter-Club, Inter-Hong and Sports & Recreation Challenge Cups.

This year's edition of the immensely popular is the 48th Hong Kong International Open Bowling Championships which started on June 27 and end on July 5. Bowlers from all over Asia will bowl best of two 3-games series in the new current scoring system in Open, Grade A, Grade B, Senior, Youth Open, Youth U18 and Youth U15 divisions.
